Legal Counsel - LV Logistics MMC

LV Logistics is seeking an experienced  Legal Counsel  to join our team in Azerbaijan. The role will support the business across commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, claims management, and dispute resolution, with a strong focus on logistics, transportation, and international trade operations. Conditions: Location:  Crescent Bay Business Centre, Azerbaijan Department:  Legal Working Hours:  09:00–18:00 Reporting To:  Company Director Key Responsibilities: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (sales, services, transportation, vendors) Provide legal advice on commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters Manage legal disputes, claims (cargo, liability, property), and liaise with external counsel and insurers Support internal teams with risk mitigation, claims prevention, risk allocation and contract compliance Monitor relevant legislation and support continuous improvement of legal procedures Review customer and vendor contracts to ensure clear liability allocation, dispute resolution terms, and effective claims handling provisions. Act as the primary liaison with insurers, brokers, adjusters, external counsel, and internal stakeholders throughout the claims lifecycle. Analyse claims trends and recommend practical measures to reduce risk exposure and strengthen contractual protections. Maintain accurate and compliant claims documentation in line with audit and regulatory requirements. Serve as the escalation point for overage, shortage, and damage (OS&D) matters, providing guidance and training as required. Identify legal and operational risks proactively and propose effective mitigation strategies to management. Support continuous improvement of internal legal and claims management processes. Participate in internal and external audits and regulatory reviews as necessary. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Law (Master’s or professional certification is an advantage) Proven experience in corporate legal advisory, contracts, and claims management (logistics/transport sector preferred) Strong knowledge of Azerbaijani commercial, customs, and transport regulations. Fluency in Azerbaijani and English; Russian is an advantage In-depth understanding of claims negotiation, settlement processes, and effective risk mitigation strategies. Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with a commercial mindset. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and with acute attention to detail. Capable of exercising sound, independent judgment while handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
