Practical Work: Design and supervise sophisticated laboratory experiments, ensuring students master microscope skills, dissection, and biochemical testing. Scientific Investigation: Support students in developing their Independent Research and investigative skills, particularly for Paper 5 (Practical Test) or Paper 6 (Alternative to Practical). Data Interpretation: Teach students to process complex biological data, draw valid conclusions, and evaluate experimental reliability. Cross-Curricular Links: Connect biological concepts to global issues such as climate change, biotechnology, and public health. Requirements & Qualifications Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or a closely related field (e.g., Biochemistry, Biomedical Science). Certification: A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or International Teaching License). Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching Cambridge Biology at the Secondary or High School level. Language Proficiency: Near-native English proficiency (Essential for explaining complex terminology and marking essay-based questions in A-Level). Native or near-native English proficiency (Minimum C1/C2 level or IELTS 7.0+). Technical Expertise: Proficiency in handling biological lab equipment and using digital simulations (e.g., BioDigital Human, virtual labs). Pedagogical Competencies Strong understanding of the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) marking criteria and command words. Ability to simplify abstract biological processes (e.g., molecular biology, metabolic pathways) for diverse learners. Experience in guiding students through past papers and exam techniques specific to Biology.
